Job drama... copied from DA and facebook

So yesterday at work, me along with all the other floaters (I count as a floater because I'm school-age so we don't even pick them up from school till 2:30 and I start work at 10:30 and do lunch breaks) got some news today.

We are all having our hours cut to part-time. This means they changed my regular 10:30 to 6:30 hours to 2:15 to 6:30. It's a huge difference. I was looking at about three options when my boss told me: quit and get a new job, get two jobs, or change from school-age to the Stingrays classroom which is 3 to 4 years and counts as Pre-K so you have to be certified PLUS it's the number one class that stresses me out. -_- But, the other floaters may end up quitting because of the change and if so I have a new option. Split shift. It'll be annoying as hell, but it means keeping my class and staying full time. What I would do is come in around 7 work till about 11 then leave and come back at about 2:30 and work till 6:30.

The hard part is that since I'm school-age, if I did 2 jobs, I'd have to constantly miss the second job on the days that they were there all day, thus lowering my chances of keeping the job.

I was thinking of maybe either getting a temp part time job or doing the split-shift until summer, then I'd be in my class all day, and then at the end of summer finding a new job....

I just really don't know what to do. And I can't get mad at my boss cause it's not her fault. The woman who owns the daycare made all the directors in all 16 schools cut hours or cut staff completely. My boss was totally upset cause she had to tell all of us. :( One of the other floaters got basically cut. They are forcing her to become a sub, but I don't think she has a car.

We actually have a car!!!

It's counted as Eric's car, cause it's a stick-shift which he will have his mother teach him. I'm not ready to learn stick-shift. Blah.

Also, we have to have it fixed, via Eric's dad, but there it is in our parking lot. It's a mitsubishi montero jeep.

Nearly Happy New Year

The recap I used from last year.

Age: 20
Love: Eric Sabra for 5 years this past Nov. Talk of marriage still in the hopefully not too distant future (within the next few years).
Job: ECE at Stepping Stone (Skippers class). Eric works as a floater at Stepping Stone.
Education: Me & Eric graduated Stony Point nearly 3 years ago. No further education yet.
Vehicle: None
Pets: Sonata & Chibi. Got a kitten, Amalthea, for my birthday who was put to sleep in July.
Home: Summit Creek Apts.
Recent Home News: Eric's dad has been staying with us for a few months now. No sign of him getting a job and leaving yet.... -_- Robbie and David visit when on break from school.
Furnishings: Lots of chairs, futon, bed, glass table, computer tables, ottoman and coffee table. Bookshelves of course too.
Family: Daddy and Laura have moved to Kerrville near Grammy and Poppy. Laura keep bugging me that she wants grandkids. Their new house is fucking tiny and Laura has been jobless for months now. She's attempting to get on disability. Still see Ember rarely, but have discovered mutual love of Phoenix Wright/Apollo Justice DS games. Haven't seen Claudia in years. Saw Mandy at Daddy's b-day party and actually talked to her. Spoke with her briefly on facebook. Eric's sister Shyla is pregnant again with a girl this time. Bradley is adorable and loves music instruments and art. Nothing really new with the rest of his family.
Friends: The people I talk to the most are: Robbie, Hillary ("new" assistant director), Heather, Janae and Kim. Heather just had her 3rd child a few weeks ago. A baby boy (that they were told was a girl. XD ).
2008 recap: In January I put in my two weeks notice at Stepping Stone. Day before last day, I got an email from a company (Inchbug) for an interview. Interviewed after last day and was hired for typing skills. I had to wait for the company to move two weeks later. At first I liked it (except when I had to work by myself). But the people quickly drove me crazy, as well as the nasty commute and not doing what I was hired to do. Quit and returned to Stepping Stone as a school age teacher. Have been in there since. 20th birthday was uneventful, with the exception of Amalthea, and my present was getting pictures professionally done. For my birthday, Eric got me a Siamese kitten (only a few months old tops) who I named Amalthea after Last Unicorn. Medical complications arose and she had to be put asleep in July. I still miss her a lot and cry at pictures of Siamese kittens still. Daddy and Laura moved sometime late in the year because they couldn't afford to live in Austin anymore (and cause they are a bit stuck-up about apartments). Took Driver's Test in Oct and failed. Celebrated 5th anniversary with Eric in Nov. Woo! Ren Fest this year sucked butt. Christmas was awesome and I got lots of stuff I loved, even from some kids from my class. Currently hating how over ratio I am and am hoping to get my assistant they promised me soon.

Wow, what an uneventful year.

C'mon 2009. Show me something good. XD

New kitten

I haven't posted in a long time.... And don't expect much from this one.

I just wanted to share the news that Eric got me a kitten for my birthday!!! We've named her Lady Amalthea after Last Unicorn. ^__^ I'll post pictures as soon as I can.

The funniest part is that she shares a birthday with Eric. She was born April 14 this year, so she's not very old. We though Sonata was tiny, but she looks HUGE next to Amalthea. And don't get me started on Chibi. Neither of the cats really like her yet which is sad, cause she keeps trying to come up to them to play/get to know them.

Also, I don't think I mentioned it, but I'm back at Stepping Stone. And I'm much happier. I no longer do diapers! Whee! I work with the school-age kids and it's a lot of fun, if a bit hectic. Field trips are fun! ^__^ I'm just dreading when the school year starts back up, cause then my class is only there 3 hours. The rest of my 8 hour day is spent "floating" which I despise, cause either I don't like the age group or it's diapers or both. Since Eric is the other floater, he gets all the pre-k classes. I originally came back to SS to do Pre-K, but no classes were available so I took school-age. Now I'm sure it's ruined me for it. I really like my class. Boo. Ah well, I'll decide closer to August.

Mai Intrvew

1. If you were a mythological creature, what would you pick and why?
That's a really tough one. I'd say dragon cause they are so cool, but it's not really in my personality type and they get killed so often, ya know. I'd probably have to go with the traditional unicorn because they are often helpful creatures that can heal and are attracted to pure people. I think that's somewhat similar to me as I love to help people, if I could heal them I would, and I'm not so much for the less-pure hobbies there are out there... Well, except for sex. That's great.

2. What is your favorite fairy tale?
Man, what's with all the hard questions? You would ask me when I'm been reading The Complete Collection of Fairy Tales by the Brothers Grim. Bah. I think some of my top stories are: The Prince Who Feared Nothing; The Knapsack, The Hat, and the Horn; Maid Maleen; The Little Hamster From The Water; The True Bride; The Lettuce Donkey; and The Nixie In The Pond

3. You get to switch bodies with one celebrity but are forever stuck in that person. Who do you pick and why?
I'm not much of a celebrity buff, so I just did a little research. I think I'd pick Mae Whitman, cause she has the same birthday (year included) as me, and she's the voice of Katara. I'd be awesome to work with the whole team behind Avatar.

4. You are stuck on a deserted island. Fortunately, the palm tree has a working CD player built into it and an endless supply of energy and you managed to bring one CD with you. What CD did you bring?
I guess my new MP3 player doesn't count. Haha. I guess it would probably be one of my Cranberries CDs. Most likely No Need To Argue.

5. If you got to interview me, what five questions would you ask?
1. If you had to write anything other than fantasy, what would you write?
2. If a mysterious benefactor paid off all your debts and gave you an extra million dollars, what would you do with it?
3. If you and Alice switched bodies for a day, what would be the first thing that you did?
4. What is your favorite Disney movie and why? If you don't like Disney, then another animated movie that's not anime.
5. If you were an anime character what would you look like and what powers, special abilities, etc would you have?

The Instructions
1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I will respond by asking you five questions of a very intimate and creepily personal nature. Or not so creepy/personal. Whatever.
3. You will update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

Blech

Man, I know I'm sick when I manage to sleep till noon and still want to go back to sleep. If my nose wasn't so stuffy when I laid down I probably would too. I'd consider a nap on the futon with a movie I've seen a lot in the background, but the cats peed on the damn thing. Is it so much to ask to be able to breathe out of my nose. My lips are pretty bad right now from having to breathe through them so much. Plus, I have two canker sores on my lip. Not fun. I just feel weak and tired and everything that I touch just irritates my skin. My head hurts a lot too. RWAAAAAAAAR!!!

On another note, I put in my two weeks at Stepping Stone a while back. Last Thursday was my last day. Friday I had an interview with InchBug, and they called me later to tell me that I was hired. Success!! However, I don't start till the 16th. They are about to move offices, and I'm going to go to their new one since it's on the bus route. I'm going to loose my mind before that though. I don't do well home alone. I never have. I think it's because there were so few times that I wasn't home with someone else. There's always been my parents or sisters, or somebody home with me. After I moved in with Daddy there were times I had to deal with it, especially while it was just me and Daddy. I'm such a wuss. Yesterday I literally spent the entire day Eric was at work, on the computer. It's one of the few things that can distract me. I have a far too imaginative mind for my own good, but only when it comes to things to worry about....

Bah.

So terrified

I'm scared shitless.... I'm about to turn in my 2 weeks notice so I can quit Stepping Stone. I'm about to have to give it to the woman that I'm too scared to even call in sick because the last time I did she told me to "Grow up and come to work".

*spazzes*

A/C Hell

Last Saturday evening our A/C stopped working. It was too late to go to the office to report it, and they are closed on Sundays. Eric was going to tell them Monday, but he got called into work early. Office closes at 6 and we don't get home till 6:30. Eric finally told them Tuesday morning. So here I am, 5 AM, after having fallen asleep at midnight due to me and my own drama, awake cause my head is itching from sweat so badly and it's so hot I'm about to give up on the silk camisole I put on for modesty's sake, cause it's 88 fucking degrees!

EDIT: Oh how lovely... and the highs today (inside Taryn's apartment) will be 94!!!

Memememememe

Instructions:
1. Leave me a casual comment of no particular significance, like a lyric to your current favorite song, your favorite kind of sandwich, or maybe your favorite game. Any remark, meaningless or not.
2. I will respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.
3. Update your LJ with the answers to the questions.

1. your username, how did you come up with it?
I had wanted a different username than mokia_sinhall or tarie_tarzan (my first s/n) for a site, so I had put in cheese_monkey, cause well I love cheese, and I like monkeys. However, it had a character limit and cut off at cheese_monk. I thought it was too funny and I've kept it as my backup s/n since.

2. Whats your favorite memory?
That's hard to say... My childhood wasn't very good. My only good memories were really when I visited my dad on the weekend. I'd have to say my memory of having a picnic at the creek by my dad's apartment with my dad and my older sister.

3. Firefox or IE(or other)?
We use firefox and I'm pretty used to it now, but I'm really used to IE. On my dad's I use Safari.

4. Have you ever played an instrument or taken formal lessons?
I took violin in 6th grade and I loved it, and wish I could play it still. We couldn't afford for me to keep renting it past 6th grade so I had to stop. I also play a few songs on the piano, like Yankee Doodle and Greensleeves. My dad has written his own music for the piano and I love to hear him play. But my true passion is the violin.

5. What would be your ideal mate?(kind, funny, shy, etc)
I'm pretty sure I have my ideal mate now. We've been together for 4 years this past November. He's got a wicked/demented humor that I love, he's kind, loves kids, is outgoing which balances my extreme shyness out, doesn't like to go out all the time, doesn't smoke or drink or do drugs just like me, he likes the same types of movies. Really he's awesome and I love him.
Happy 2008!

This is mainly for myself, but I thought it'd be fun to do a little summary of where I am in life, to be compared with next year's. ^__^

Age: 19
Love: Eric Sabra for 4 years this past Nov. Talk of marriage in the hopefully not to distant future (within the next few years).
Job: ECE at Stepping Stone (Dolphins class). Eric works as a floater at Stepping Stone.
Education:Me & Eric graduated Stony Point nearly 2 years ago. No further education yet.
Vehicle: None
Pets: Sonata & Chibi
Home: Summit Creek Apts.
Recent Home News: Robbie is staying with us for a while as he is on academic suspension at school. Recently received 3ds max but have to fight with Eric for that computer as he's always playing RF or Exteel.
Furnishings: Only 2 chairs and an ottoman and 1 bed. Only tables have computers on them.
Family: Daddy and Mary have recently broke up and Daddy has (sort of?) gotten back together with Laura. Still only in light contact with Ember. No contact with Claudia. Only sort of contact with Mandy is news via Daddy. Eric's mom recently started going through menopause. Josh still lives with her. Shyla had her baby this past year, named Bradley, with Zach.
Friends: Most talked to friends are Heather, Janae, Ileene, Sarah and Robbie. Janae had her baby last week, named Isis. Ileene and her boyfriend have finally decided to get married after being together a very long time.
2007 recap Started by, shortly after the year started, working at JoAnn Fabrics. Made good friends with Karen, who I dumpster-dived for tons of patterns with and discovered the expensive joy of Jollyville Java. At some point here I broke up with Eric for 3 days. JoAnn's liquidated in March. The next day I interviewed with Stepping Stone. After 3 interviews they hired me for the Minnows room. Hated it and began sort-of friendship with Moriah. Opportunity arose to work in Sea Turtle room, at the time my favorite room. However I didn't end up working with Ileene, my preferred choice of the 2 working in there, but it got me out of the baby room. Somewhere in here I had my 19th birthday and moved into my first apartment. Mary cut off almost all contact between me and Daddy after I moved. After 3 months of the Sea Turtles, I couldn't stand Hayley anymore and wanted to be my own teacher. Opportunity arose for the Dolphins room (which I knew nothing about, but had a half-door to the other class of the same age group so I could ask for help) when the teacher became pregnant and couldn't life the kids, and the other teacher they had in there was complained about from the parents. Have worked in the Dolphins since. Late in the year, Daddy and Mary broke up. Right before the year ended he and Laura got back together. Am currently hoping to work with Laura doing date entry.

---------------------

That's all I can think of to add...

On another note I have high hopes for 2008! I think it's going to be a good year.

Goodbye 2007, you were filled with DRAMA as most years are, but all in all it was a good year.

Blood As White As Snow

The other day at work I had an idea for a story that ended up into a retelling of Snow White... check under the cut if you want to see the outline of the story and maybe give advice...

MC = Main Character
Mom = MC's mom
Demon = MC's dad
LI = Love Interest/child of sorceress
Hunter = Mom's rescuer and then husband

Mom was abducted by Demon who raped her in a forest and left her to die
Rescued by a hunter who she soon married
MC was born - looked like Mom
When MC turned 5 - Demon accepted her as his heir to his bloodline - her appearance changed to look like him)
Mom tried to kill MC w/hunter's knife
Hunter found them & stopped MOM allowing MC to escape
Found by a family living in the woods (3 couples and 1 6 year-old daughter = LI)
Mom was intent to find MC to stop Demon's bloodline - obtained a magic goblet that used her own blood to cause visions & voices of real events
Wives of the 3 couples are sorceresses & maintain a protective ward over the house, so MC's location is hidden despite Mom's efforts
On 16th birthday - demonic "aura" become too strong, allowing Demon to find MC
Attempts to create a more demonic heir by raping MC, however the husbands of the 3 couples kill Demon, but not before he manages to kill one of the wives
Remaining wives save his blood for magical use
With the loss of power of the wards, Mom finds MC
Mom forces a witch to drink from her goblet, giving her access to magic though her blood - disguises self as an old woman
Mom poses as a servant @ the funeral for the dead wife - tricks MC into drinking from the goblet
MC goes into coma isntead of dying due to demonic blood
Mom escaped leaveing the goblet (either from desperation of flight OR no further use for it)
LI transformers goblet into a comb and disguises herself to get into Mom's home
LI kills Mom w/comb & saves her blood
Uses Mom's and Demon's blood, along with medicinal herbs and sorcery, to create a paste to revive MC by applying it to her lips
When a combo of magic and the blood almost works she figures out the missing ingredient - pure non-evil blood
Bites her lip till it bleeds and kisses MC
MC awakes and they live happily ever after
B-OTCH!
Career Change

So today I talked with one of my kid's parents about becoming a nanny when they finish school. Right not her school pays for her kids to come to daycare, but in June I guess she graduates? She's gonna pay like 200 a week, and it's just her 2? 3? kids. I'm not sure if I'd be watching her older son or not, but I know for sure her son who's almost 3 and her daughter (who is in my class) who's 1 1/2.

And it would only be like 4 days a week, so I could get another part-time job. My only thought is...where?

I can't decide if I want to stay at Stepping Stone, and be a part-time floater (which I really don't like) or find something else that's hopefully not food. I wish I could work at like Half Price, or at least something I somewhat interested in. However, I'm limited on places that I can get to and I would like, that would be part time.

I'm not a customer service kind of person.

I don't like most people. I find most people petty and rude and mean. I don't understand how they don't make themselves physically ill with the way they act towards others....but then, I hear I'm an oddity. Eric says I'm the nicest person he knows, and that shouldn't be true. I shouldn't be the exception to the rule. Sorry, I just can't comprehend how being mean to people can feel okay, much less good to some people....

BTW, Shaney, I'll get the xmas list up soon. Hopefully tonight.
